ကၽြန္ေတာ္ေပ်ာက္ေနတာမဟုတ္ပါဘူး. ဘေလာ႔ဂ္ကုိ အျမဲလာၾကည္႔ျဖစ္ပါတယ္. ကုိယ္႔ရ႔ဲ personal blog ေလးကုိ ခဏပစ္ထားျပီး တစ္ျခားဘေလာ႔ဂ္ေလးေတြအတြက္ စည္းရုံးေရးဆင္းေနလုိ႔ပါ.

အဂၤလိပ္သီခ်င္းေလးေတြကုိလည္း ကၽြန္ေတာ္သိသေလာက္ တတ္သေလာက္နဲ႔ ရွာျပီးတင္ေပးထားပါတယ္. Flash Player ေလးတစ္ခုကိုလည္း finetune ဆုိတဲ႔ Site ေလးတစ္ခုမွာ ေတြ႔လုိ႔ လုပ္ထားပါေသးတယ္. သီခ်င္း ၄၅ ပုဒ္တင္ထားပါတယ္. အေကာင္႔တစ္ခုကုိ ၄၅ ပုဒ္ေပးပါတယ္. ေနာက္ထပ္အသစ္ေလးေတြကို အေကာင္႔အသစ္ေတြ ယူျပီး တင္သြားေပးပါဦးမယ္.

Maggin Monastery Locked Down!

Dear Friends,

Here is an update on the situation of Maggin Monastery and detained activists.

Maggin Monastery (Nov 29): Yesterday about 4:30 pm, three army trucks and armed soldiers and security people with motorbikes surrounded the monastery and the authorities entered the monastery and read out a directive for everyone to leave. Some laypeople were there to help out. Now the monastery has been locked down. Update on the situation of the monks and novices after leaving the place is yet to be known.

Mother of ’88 Student Leader Died (Nov 30): Daw Mi Mi Lay (68 years old), who is the mother of ’88 Generation Student leader Htay Kywe, died from cancer at home in Rangoon last night. Htay Kywe received a family visit at Insein Prison on Monday (Nov 26) and the family has made requests for him to see his dying mothers a few days ago and now to be able to come to the funeral on Monday (Dec 3).

In late 2006, Daw Mi Mi Lay was also admitted to the hospital for her worsening cancer. Still receiving treatment she had to leave the hospital immediately in the middle of a night when the doctor in-charge received a phone call from the authorities in the Capital asking whether Htay Kywe’s mother was staying at the hospital and he got panic and asked her to leave. At that time Htay Kywe was in detention along with four other leaders of the ’88 Generation Students group including Min Ko Naing.

Htay Kywe was in prison both times when his father and his brother Win Kywe, also a leader of 1988 democracy uprising, died a few years ago, and his family appealed for him to attend the funerals, but those appeals were all rejected.

Ethnic Leaders Released (Nov 26): A prominent Zomi ethnic leader, Cin Sian Thang was released on Monday morning after nearly one week in custody. He is a chairman of Zomi National Congress and a member of the Committee Representing the People's Parliament (CRPP), arrested on November 20 along with other CRPP members and ethnic leaders Naing Ngwe Thein, U Aye Tha Aung, U Ohn Tin, Khun Htoo and U Soe Win.

Prominent Chin ethnic leader U Pu Chin Sian Thang also has been freed after his arrest last week for supporting detained opposition leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's call for dialogue and national reconciliation, released by the UN Special Envoy Mr. Gambari on Nov 8, after his return from Burma.

They were questioned about their views on the statement issued by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. All of them with the exception of U Pu Cin Sian Thang were released the same day.

Three Activists Released (Nov 25): Aye Myint Myat, Ye Dagun and Wai Linn Htun were released from detention on Sunday, Nov 26.

But More Arrested (Nov 26 & 27): Aung Zaw Oo, a member of the Human Rights Defenders and Promoters (HRDP) was arrested on Monday at about 1 pm from a teashop in downtown Rangoon. Aung Zaw Oo, a native of Bokalay town, is currently residing in Rangoon and was taking an active role in planning for the December 10th International Human Rights Day, which the HRDP is planning to organize in Rangoon. Another three activists – Myat San (Tri Color Students), Win Maw (Shwe Thanzin Music Band) and Aung Aung (’88 Generation Student) were arrested on Nov 27.

Students Names Collected (Nov 26): In a bid to put a leash on any kind of students' movement in universities, invigilators in Rangoon University east campus are collecting the names and roll numbers of students who are coming for their examination in black dresses as a mark of mourning for those killed during the protests because of a rumor that students in condemnation of the ruling junta's brutal crackdown on protesters in September would wear black as a sign of mourning. a student source said

Women Activists Took to the Street (Nov 25): About twenty seven young women activists staged a small anti-government protest in the main city Rangoon - the first to take place there since the authorities crushed demonstrations in September. The women walked in a column lining 3 in a roll and gathered quietly at the Sule pagoda in central Rangoon, trying to avoid alerting the security forces.

၁၀ တန္းေက်ာင္းသားတစ္ေယာက္ကုိ တစ္ပတ္ ၄ ရက္ႏႈန္းနဲ႔ တစ္ရက္ကုိ ၃ နာရီသင္ပါတယ္. ကၽြန္ေတာ္လည္း ေက်ာင္းသား ၅ ေယာက္ကုိ လိပ္ပတ္လည္ေအာင္ အခ်ိန္ျပည္႔ရေအာင္ သင္ေပးရပါတယ္. စေန၊ တနဂၤေႏြေတြမွာဆုိ တစ္ေနကုန္ run ေနရတာပဲ. ကၽြန္ေတာ္တက္တဲ႔ speaking class နဲ႔ computer course ေတြကလည္း ရွိေသးတယ္ေလ. ေန႔ခင္းဆုိ ေက်ာင္းသားေတြတစ္ေယာက္မွ မရွိေတာ႔ အမ်ိဳးသားစာၾကည္႔တုိက္မွာ စာသြားဖတ္တယ္. အျပင္ေျဖတစ္ေယာက္ကုိေတာ႔ မနက္ပုိင္းသြားသင္ေပးရေသးတယ္. အဟဲ. ျပီးေတာ႔ ကၽြန္ေတာ္က နန္းေရွ႔က လင္းေရာင္ျခည္ စာၾကည္႔တုိက္မွာ volunteer လည္း ၀င္လုပ္လုိက္ေသးတယ္ဗ်.

အဲဒီ႔ကတည္းက ကၽြန္ေတာ္က အစုံသုပ္သုပ္ဖုိ႔ ၾကိဳးစားေနခဲ႔တာ. ခုေတာ႔ ဘေလာ႔ဂါလည္း ျဖစ္လာေရာ ဘေလာ႔ဂ္ေတြကို အလကားရတုိင္း ယူျပီး ပြစိတတ္ေအာင္ ေရးေနတာလည္း ကၽြန္ေတာ္႔ရဲ႔ အဲဒီ႔အက်င္႔ေလးေၾကာင္႔ပဲေပါ႔. (ဟတ္ဟတ္ဟတ္)

Intensive training ေတြ ေပးရေတာ႔မယ္. ေက်ာင္းေတြမွာလည္း ေက်ာင္းသားေတြ သိပ္မတက္ၾကေတာ႔ဘူးေလ. အဲဒီ႔မွာ ကၽြန္ေတာ္က ေက်ာင္းသားေတြကုိ ညွိပါတယ္. သူတုိ႔ေတြကို တစ္ပတ္ ၄ ရက္၊ ၃ နာရီပဲ ေပးမယ္ဆုိရင္ တစ္ပတ္မွာ ၁၂ နာရီပဲ ရမယ္. စာေတြက သိပ္မ်ားေတာ႔ သိပ္အားမရဘူး. အဲလုိလုပ္မယ္႔အစား ၃ ေယာက္ေလာက္ကုိ ၀ုိင္းလုိက္ျပီး က်ယ္တဲ႔ အိမ္ တစ္အိမ္အိမ္မွာ စုသင္မယ္. စာသင္ခ်ိန္ကုိ တုိးေပးမယ္. ရက္လည္း တုိးေပးမယ္. အဲလုိေျပာျပီး ညွိပါတယ္.

The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom will hold a public hearing to examine how religious freedom abuses perpetuated by the Burmese military contribute to violent repression of peaceful dissent, ongoing abuses against ethnic minorities, and regional instability. The hearing also will assess recent U.N. diplomatic efforts as well as U.S. policy options for bringing about democratic change in Burma.

Pakistan, Burma and Beyond....

Last night, I was browsing CNN news and suddenly the news about Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, came up as breaking news. He stepped down as the country’s military leader Wednesday, the day before he was to be sworn in for a third presidential term—as a civilian.

CNN says, ‘his retirement as general caps a 46-year career in the nation’s armed forces and ends eight years of military rule.’

Well, this was not actually shocking news but it made me think beyond our country’s politics.

In recent years, there were three military coups in Southeast Asia; Burma, Pakistan and Thailand. Speaking backward, Thailand is moving toward a peaceful political reconciliation. It’s not that bad. Pakistan came second. At least, Musharraf is no more military general. And he also vowed to bring political change for the better living of Pakistanis.

How about Burma? When? How?

It’s needless to answer my question. Never ever will political change in Burma happen as long as General Than Shwe and his followers are trying to make their chairs firm!

I, sometimes, wonder why our country has been in such kind of abysmal situation for decades. It’s so sad to learn that our Country is still undeveloped and so worn-out under military rule while other nations are stepping forward with full momentum. China became powerful in both global economics and military affairs after 1989 uprising. It’s only 18 years from now. Today’s China is completely different from China in 1989.

Burma?

Today’s Burma is much worse than Burma in 1988. Both countries encountered the similar political turmoil! Both of them cracked down the mayhem using military forces killing thousands of innocent activists. Both of them ruled the country applying the similar restrictions upon the citizens. But different judgment and different vision made China reach so far ahead of Burma! That’s the line Burma and China became apart from each other. That’s the point why educated leaders are needed for the country.

In deed, We, Burmese, are not ordinary.

Yes! We are not just ordinary citizens. We regained our independence against the great British Empire. We fought back the Fascist Japan to get our real freedom. Our capital, Rangoon, had been looked upon by Singapore and other Southeast Asia countries. We had been great! We had been powerful in the region! We had been legend for a certain period.

Speaking of recent feats, U Thant became a secretary general of United Nations. Our beloved leader, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, won the Nobel Prize. The famous poet, Tha Journal Kyaw, won the international poet prize though he couldn’t attend the awarding ceremony in person. Knowing those facts, Than Shwe and his followers have been consistently suppressing any political movements in Burma. They won’t even let the Buddhist monks escape from the torture when it jeopardizes their interest and power.

They are the most ferocious killers in the world!
They are the most reckless lawmakers in the history!
They are the most messed-up rulers ever in Burma history and Buddha Sasana as well.

The words are not enough to talk about their cruelness toward the ordinary citizens. While the Junta’s families abuse the country’s interests at their will, the ordinary citizens cannot even afford to buy the broken rice.

What should we do then?

Keep in mind that our media war upon SPDC is not over yet.

From now on, I will blog in both Burmese and English to get the international involvement in our media war.

As I stated before, we will organize a media-campaign panel which will mostly include patriotic Burmese political activists.

We will not be subsidized by any political organizations. We are our own people. We do as we believe. We do politics not for our living but for others’ brighter future. Hearing that, some people might snort at us because many other people have already stated that.

We won’t care at all. We are different.

Why?

We are bloggers. We are freelance writers. We are literate youths.

We are young. We are energetic. We are united!

We have hope. We have courage. We have can-do attitude.

This is IT age and we, bloggers, are running at the top of the game. We will combine our effort together for the sole reason; topple the Junta down!

By this date, we declare an absolute media war upon S.P.D.C of Burma!!!

Advice vs. Advise

“Advice” is the noun, “advise” the verb. When U Kathika advises bloggers, he gives them advice.

Advise က အၾကံေပးသည္၊ Verb ျဖစ္ပါတယ္. ဦးဦးကထိက ငယ္ငယ္ကတည္းက လြယ္လြယ္မွတ္ခဲ႔တာကေတာ႔ SE က Verb ထဲ ထုိးဆင္းေနတယ္လုိ႔ပါ. မ်က္စိထဲမွာ SE ကားေလး ဗြက္ထဲကုိ ေခါင္းစုိက္ေနတဲ႔ ပုံစံေလးျမင္လုိက္တာေပါ႔. ယုတၱိေတာ႔ မရွိပါဘူး. ဒါေပမယ္႔ လုံး၀မမွားေတာ႔ပါဘူး. မွတ္တတ္ဖုိ႔ အၾကံေပးတာပါ.


Backward vs. Backwards

As an adverb, either word will do: “put the shirt on backward” or “put the shirt on backwards.”

However, as an adjective, only “backward” will do: “a backward glance.” When in doubt, use “backward.”

A “bazaar” is a market where miscellaneous goods are sold.
“Bizarre” is an adjective meaning “strange”, “weird.”

Bazaar ဆုိတာကေတာ႔ ကုန္ပစၥည္းအေျခာက္အျခမ္းမ်ိဳးစုံ ၀ယ္ယူႏုိင္တဲ႔ ေစ်းၾကီးပါ. Bizarre ကေတာ႔ ထူးဆန္းေသာ၊ ပုံမွန္မဟုတ္ေသာ၊ အူေၾကာင္ေၾကာင္ႏုိင္ေသာလုိ႔ အဓိပၸါယ္ရပါတယ္.

“Belief” is a noun. “Believe” is a verb.

You can copyright writing, but you can also copyright a photograph or song. The word has to do with securing ‘rights.’ Thus, there is no such word as ‘copywritten’; it’s ‘copyrighted.’
